Congratulations to Panteras U14B!!!

(1 Oct 2009)I am happy to share this email with the league!

Hello Mary,

I just wanted to inform you that Panteras U14B had a real good tournament this weekend returning as Champions from the Dublin Premier Fall Classic.

Though the team has had it's ups and downs this year (like most teams), fun has never been abscent from our competitions, and fortunately with hard work we have been able to get back up when we fall.

I am really proud of our team (players, parents, coaching staff, club) and I felt it necessary to let you know what we have accomplished thus far this year 2009:

State Cup:
  • 2 wins, 1 loss (did not advance)
Tournaments:
  • Mustang Winter Turf Invitational (Champions)
  • Santa Rosa Wine Country Cup (Champions)
  • Diablo FC Summer Classic (2nd Place)
  • San Ramon Valley Cup (Champions)
  • Mustang Stampede Tournament (3rd Place)
  • California Rush Open (2nd Place)
  • Dublin Premier Fall Classic (Champions)
Leagues:
  • NorCal Premier Spring League-Gold Division (2nd Place)
Rankings:
  • As of now, the team is ranked #17 in the state CAN, #42 in region and #88 in nation (Gotsoccer.com rankings).

I do not intend to brag or boast about our team in any manner, I just think you should know that Panteras does it's best it can to represent Vallejo YSL with pride and dignity.

And one other very important thing, maybe the most important of all. At almost every event we participate, Panteras is continuously recognized as the most disciplined group of players inside and outside the field. This praise has come from tournament coordinators, field marshalls, referees, coaches and parents. This is a result of our strong commitment to teach our players to play the game with commitment, respect and discipline.

Mary, thanks to you and leaders like Van, Tony & others, for your time and effort in giving us the opportunity to play as a competitive team as members of VYSL and for the opportunity you give us to participate and compete in soccer events that will give us great memories for years to come. Without all of you this would not be possible.

I have included some pics of the team. Hope you enjoy.

Mil Gracias!

Yours in soccer,

Coach Sal

Panteras FC, U14 Boys

Thank you very much for your words, that's our mission to support and give the best to our children, very proud of you Sal and the kids and the commitment you have with all the players and their families. Wish you the best on this season.

Positive Coaching Alliance Workshop: October 16, 2009

(17 Sep 2009) Vallejo Youth Soccer League is now affiliated with the nonprofit organization Positive Coaching Alliance, whose mission is to make youth sports a positive experience for players and a way for them to learn winning life lessons rather than just winning games. PCA helps by conducting workshops and providing useful tips, articles, and blogs on its website — check them out.

VYSL will be hosting a Positive Coaching workshop on Friday, October 16, 2009, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at a place to be determined. This is mandatory for coaches, but is open to everybody — parents and players included — as well as to people from other leagues and sports. We will be distributing flyers to promote the event. Please spread the word!

Past Summer Events

District IV Procedure, Rules & Regulations and District IV Code of Conduct

(17 Aug 2009) Many of our teams have registered in both CYSA & in US Club; several will play their matches here in District IV, and many will play their matches in the Golden State Soccer League (GSSL). It is important that everyone involved understand a few things before things really get rolling after Labor Day so here are some important points that you should all be aware of:

  • If a team official is sent off, which results in a suspension:
    1. A temporary withdrawal of rights and privilege, such as the right to play, coach, or otherwise administer or participate (directly or indirectly) in soccer, will be in effect, and the suspension is for the entire term of the suspension with all rights and privileges withdrawn unless specifically stated otherwise by the suspending authority (US Youth Soccer Rule 101 section 2, item 8).
    2. The temporary withdrawal of rights and privileges extends to all teams to which the suspended individual is affiliated.
  • Only CYSA sanctioned matches can be used to satisfy a CYSA sanction.

  • Regardless of where a CYSA District IV registered teams contests its match, District Rules & Regulations, and the District Code of Conduct are in force for all players, team officials & spectators.

  • When and where appropriate, District IV will inform the GSSL of any player, team official or spectator who has been sanctioned and the number of matches remaining on their sanction.

  • When and where appropriate, GSSL will inform District IV of any player, team official or spectator sanctioned during GSSL league play, and the number of matches remaining on their sanction.

I hope that this helps clear up any confusion that may exist in disciplinary operations for the upcoming seasonal year. Download District IV, Rules and Regulations

Referee Uniforms Here: Monday, August 17, 2009

(15 Aug 2009) Referee uniforms are scheduled to arrive today (Saturday). Call Stan Fernandez at (707) 315-9001 to confirm that they're here.

Remember, to earn the uniform you must referee additional PAL games for free, so make sure you sign up for them in RefScheduler! They are useful preparation for the VYSL competition games starting in September.

(12 Aug 2009) VYSL has scheduled a Picture Day for teams to have their player and team photos taken. Photography will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Wardlaw Field. (4 Aug 2009) VYSL and Vallejo PAL are holding a joint referee meeting on Wednesday, August 5, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm the PAL office at 301 Wallace Avenue, Vallejo. It's a rolling meeting, meaning that you need not be there the whole time, as we will repeat information as people drift in. Local Referee Class Starts This Week: August 3, 2009

(4 Aug 2009) For those of you still wishing to take a referee class in the area, one will be held in Benicia starting August 3 and going for three weeks. The first class session already passed but you are still able to complete the course if you act soon. Contact Peter Fiori at (707) 747-7947 or at referees@beniciasoccer.org as soon as possible.

This is the nearest upcoming class; next available classes will be much farther away in Oakland, Berkeley, and Pleasant Hill. Visit http://www.d4ra.com/ref/clinics.html for a list of them all.

Team Information Restored on Teams Page

(2 Aug 2009) Team contact information (names, numbers, e-mail addresses) has been reinstated on the Teams page. Coaches and managers, please check your team's entry for correctness. Fundraising Links

(1 Aug 2009) We've added links to fundraising information on the Useful Links page in the Team Managers section. Check them out!

If You Didn't Pass the Referee Exam

(23 Jul 2009) If you didn't score high enough on the Grade 8 Referee Exam to earn your license, you can retake the test in 30 days. The next one in the area is on Wednesday, August 19, at the end of the August referee class being held in Benicia. Contact the coordinator of the class at referees@beniciasoccer.org to inform them that you wish to retake the exam at his class.

If You Missed the Referee Exam

(23 Jul 2009) If you have attended all the classes for the July referee class but could not attend exam night, you can take the exam at the first opportunity. The next one in the area is on Wednesday, July 29, at the end of the July referee class being held in Benicia. Contact the coordinator of the class at referees@beniciasoccer.org to inform them that you missed the Vallejo exam night but have attended all the other days. You have to have the Vallejo course all paid for before you take the test. Call the Vallejo referee coordinator at (707) 319-1871 or at refcoordinator@vallejosoccer.com to arrange payment.

Team Contact Information Updated

(15 Jul 2009) The Team Contacts page has been updated with this year's coach & manager information. Team officials, please double-check your own information on the page to make sure everything is correct. Golden State Soccer has not yet published the game schedules for Class I (GSSL) teams, so those links either are disabled or pointing to your schedules and standings from last year.

Reminder for Students in the Referee Class

(15 Jul 2009) The class is $25 for adults, $15 for youth, and does not cover the cost of the license, which is $40 only if you pass. Make checks payable to VYSL or Vallejo Youth Soccer League. (Last year, the class was $45 and the license was $25, so we are giving a break to help offset USSF's fee increase. It still works out to $2.50 a night [$4.16 for adults] which is still a bargain.)

Wine Tasting Fundraiser Event, July 18, 2009

(8 Jul 2009) Don't miss out on any of the excitement! It wil be an evening to eat, drink and be merry, all while doing something good for the youth in our community. Each $20 ticket entitles you to three different glasses of wine (with recommendations from some of our volunteer sommeliers), plenty of hors d'ouevres, and dancing from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Mare Island Naval Museum! We will also have a raffle and a silent auction of many gifts and services. The money raised goes toward helping many players whose families cannot otherwise afford soccer. Call (707) 731-2352 for tickets.
