Developing your goalie? VYSL is offering a coaching clinic for goalkeepers. See below for more information.
From Monday, June 30 through Thursday, July 3, 2008, the Vallejo Strikers Gold players will be hosting a free soccer mini-clinic from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Wardlaw Elementary School field in Vallejo, California. This is the second year in a row that they have participated in the community. Last year there were a little over a hundred young participants in the clinic.
Reynaldo Montano, trainer for the Vallejo Strikers Gold (U-14G), Vallejo United Cobras (U-12B) and Vallejo United Stompers (U-11B), will be leading the clinics.
Please bring the following on the first day of the clinic:
All teams participate in Vallejo's Independence Day Parade this Friday, July 4. We will be assembling at 9:00 am at Ohio and Broadway streets near downtown Vallejo. We are 65th in the parade order. Wear your uniforms, and bring American flags if you have them! After the parade we will have hot dogs and hamburgers near the Vallejo Marina.
Congratulations to the Vallejo Strikers U14 Girls' team for winning the June 21-24 Region H National Cup Regionals in Ripon, California! They will be representing Northern California and Vallejo in the US Club Soccer National Cup in Virginia Beach, Virginia on July 26-29, 2008!
To help pay for costs for this monumental opportunity, the Strikers are holding Chevy's Fundraiser Night on Wednesday, July 16 at Chevy's Fresh Mex Restaurant, 157 Plaza Drive, in Vallejo. Dine at Chevy's that evening, the team will collect your receipt, and the restaurant will donate 25% of the proceeds back to the Strikers. It's their way of giving back to the community, and the Strikers way of getting on the road to Virginia!
Come enjoy different types of wine, enjoy the hors d'ouvres, win valuable merchandise, and above all, help raise money so underprivileged kids can play soccer at the First Annual VYSL Wine-Tasting Event on Saturday, July 19, 2008. A $20 donation entitles you to three glasses of different choice wines, a silent auction, and more! Proceeds will benefit the league in general and individual teams which will use the funds to help subsidize registration and tournament fees for their economically-disadvantaged players. The historic Mare Island Naval Museum, at 8th Street and Railroad Avenue, has ample parking and houses a backdrop of historic artifacts, including a 35-foot patrol boat with shark's teeth in front!
For the second year in a row, VYSL will be hosting a boys' and girls' Division I soccer tournament — the Vallejo Soccer Cup. There will be a mandatory check-in on Friday August 15, 2008 from 7:00pm to 9:00 pm at the Vallejo PAL office, 301 Wallace Avenue, Vallejo, California 94590. You will need to have your approved team roster ("goldenrod"), medical releases with parent signatures, laminated coaches' and players' passes, and guest player forms (when applicable). For more information contact Manny Bonotan, Tournament Director, at mebono3@cs.com.

The short answer is, any Grade 8 referee who has missed 5
years or more in a row will have to take the full referee course over again.
If s/he has missed 3 to 4 years, they can take the Referee Bridge course.
If s/he has missed 1 to 2 years, they can take a Referee recertification clinic.

Our goal is to create a safe environment for the City of Vallejo kids. Playing soccer generates a healthy, enthusiastic and a psychological bond between a player's mind and body (mente sana en cuerpo sano). Challenge and discipline create a sense of balance, promoting a positive outlook regardless of the outcome of the game. Participating as a member of a united team, the player will be able to experience a sense of accomplishment through participation.
Allowing kids to participate in competitive soccer and helping them deal with challenges throughout their life often giving them mental and physical strength during hardships.
Keeping teenagers out of trouble, out of the streets is our main concern, giving them the chance of reach a different goal in life, to be somebody in the future, a gentle but strong human being to be concern in all the aspects of their private life, turning back in the future the same benefits that they received in his young years to our New generations.
